Realistic Onyx Material and Lighting
This project was a real pleasure to work on, as I brought to life a lamp design for Sense+Vision, based on the client’s sketches and specifications. The key element here was the ''Onyx'' paired with LED lighting, creating a warm, glowing effect as light passed through the translucent stone.

The biggest challenge—and also the most fun part—was making the material respond realistically to the internal light. I spent quite some time fine-tuning the shader in Blender to capture the natural translucency and diffusion of light through real Onyx.
I used Blender for modeling, texturing, and the creation of the Onyx material. Substance Painter was used to refine some additional textures. The final renders in Blender, achieving a high-quality, photorealistic result that truly showcases the beauty of the product.
This project allowed me to demonstrate my ability to create sophisticated lighting effects and materials, to bring the client’s vision to life.
Demonstration of the complexity of materials created in Blender, going through several versions of the Onyx material.
Also, the scene, lighting, and composition of one of the renderings.
Thanks a lot for checking out this project!
